Monkeys Ink/Year of the Monkey is finished and available. Last week I was at San Diego ComicCon. I had a blast and made a little bit of monkey but then promtly lost it at the airport or bank. So I guess that means I broke even. On to better news, I've got some great leads from networking at the con. I'm hoping that some of them will pan out. I'm getting ready to leave for Otakon in Baltimore. I'll be stopping at Gencon on my way back and then bust arse getting ready for DragonCon. After that I think I'll pass out from exhaustion for awhile.
Cheers!

I've updated the 'Golden Lion' in progress with what I've done with the background. I feel really certain I will finish this piece in time for my next show in Houston "Apollocon".
June 18th 2008
Updated art in progress page. I've uploaded the current progression of the "Golden Lion".
I'll be updating my calendar of events soon.
June 11th 2008
I've had to make some changes to my print runs. All of my regular fantasy pieces and both the Liquor Fairy print runs and the Living Ink print runs will now be on a Matte surface instead of the semi gloss Luster surface I've been using, I think it gives it a warmer feel. The Iron works series will continue to be on the Luster paper since I think it helps give it a colder, darker look.
If you have any questions. Don't hesitate to contact me.

I've just finished uploading a few pics from Akon 19. You can view them here.
Also, I attended SoonerCon, which was last weekend. I was an invited guest and got to talk my mouth off at several panel discussions. Which were very interesting and someone seriously needs to not be afraid to shut me up.

I've returned from A-kon in Dallas. I did fairly well, I didn't
get as much sleep as I would have liked but I had fun.
I met some new faces that I enjoyed talking to and now it's time to get back
to work.
I've updated the website with some sketches for what I'm currently working on... 'Leo's fire' also known as 'The Golden Lion'

The Pirate Rum Fairy is sold out. I've updated the website to reflect this. There is currently no plans for a replacement for it's spot...although that may change in the future.
I have a handful of Rum prints that I was saving for this moment, I will be exhibiting and selling them at Akon in Dallas the last weekend of May, OTAKON and DragonCon.

I have just returned from Emerald City Comic Con 2008 in Seattle, and I have to say. I had a good time, while I was there my work was at the Carnality Ball and I understand I did very well there too. This year my art sales have been doing very well and I'll have some interesting news to report in the next week or so. At ECCC, I was seated next to some great people. Here is a link to Jeff Woods Flikr site where he has pics of the event.Click on the pic below to see pics my booth at ECCC.

I've just finished updating the prices on the Liqour Fairy and Living Ink series. I've had to do some price ajustments since I'm now getting all my adhesives and backing material at a lower price. Which means I get to lower print prices by abit.
I've also added a page where you can now buy the Living Ink series as a set. Same as the Liquor Fairies.

I've finished the latest Geisha/Year
of the Rat artwork.
Since the rat in the Japanese popular culture has connotations with shadows
and stealth. I thought of giving her a ninja theme. A beautiful assassin who
moonlights as a courtesan.
You can't see because of the Chinese style hat, but the rat in the painting
is climbing or pulling on a huge gold coin.
That's because in Chinese culture, the Rat is very good with money and very
clever with her resources whatever they may be.
I think i'll be taking a break from the Chinese Calender/Geisha's and work on something else that I've been wanting to work on for some time now. We'll see....

Biting the Apple is over, I have a few pieces with the other art and exhibits. Everything sold which is good. I had abit too much to drink, the wine was good. I was fortunate to have Erin and Andy with me to keep me out of trouble....the pic below has some pictures of the event.

I've started to ship out to different conventions and art shows. I've also brought back my Calendar page to show events I'm attending and art shows that I'll be shipping my art to.

Tigers Ink is finished... I think. You can view it in the New Art Works Page or click here.
Feb 12th, 2008
The Nightmare in Steel piece has finally been redone. I redid his face...the lighting...and did some major repositioning/resizing of the background art. I'm happy with it and it's available for sale again.
Feb 1st, 2008
I have uploaded and created the page for the Tigers Ink updates. I'm working on it and hope to be finished with it and be happy with it...I'm less concerned about when it will be done than how I feel about it.

I've decided to go and rework Phoenix Ink. I was never quite happy with it even after working on it twice. Third times the charm. You can view it in the new artwork page.
Also, I'll have the conventions & events calender updated soon.

Okay, this is the Studio's current situation. The website is back to it's commercial format, (you can buy art again). I've managed to get things under control and back in the black. I've had to sell off most of the production capacity I once had and It will be awhile till I can afford to buy most of that equipment again. I can still get the prints and artwork made but I means it will cost me more to do so since I'll now have to go to someone else to do it. Which means the cost of prints will go up. I foresee my sales dropping but I am prepared for that. As long as there is someone out there who appreciate my work enough to put it on their walls I'll continue to make it. I am contracting myself out to a local (okay, it's abit of a drive) animation company to pay the bills and get back to my roots.
I'm only a few characters left before I finish the commission for the Faery Artist Reference Book. I've post low rez art of what you'll find that I've done, minus the step by step sketch's, refs and explanations plus historical references. You'll find them in the New Art Page.

After much thought on the subject and a whole lot of dragging my feet. I have come to the realization that I can no longer keep the studio running. I won't go into details but I was relying too much on my direct art sales at conventions and art exhibits and this last year and ahalf I've seen my sales plummet. I'm currently not making enough with my new licensed artwork and so I have to make some tough decisions. After seven years and some months of great success I'm closing the studio down.
I will still be accepting some few private commissions and you might occasionally see my work in an artshow or two and I still plan on coming out with an art book, but for now...I'm looking for work and it's time to pay the bills. I've taken down the websites commercial functions. You can still buy some products with my art on them which you can find on my Merchandise page. Thanks for the support!

It's October and I'm feeling odd.
My attending art shows, exhibition & conventions are over for the year.
I'm not skipping towards any other show anytime soon.
I'm feeling odd. Unfinished. Unaccomplished.
It's been a hard year, but thats not it exactly.
I haven't found someone yet who wants to pick up my Liquor Fairy series as
a calender or as stickers or bookmarks.
But thats not it either.
I've had this story full of images and happening filling my head for so long
that It's finally starting to fade.
I've wanted to sit down and start work in full fever on something grand but
had to hold off for so long that the urge has almost died.
I've held onto a dream for over thirteen years and I'm having trouble seeing
it thru all the layers of dust.
It's October. Autumn is turning fast. And I want to change with it.
When Winter hits, and it's cold and dark. When the world is still and sleeping.
I want to dream.

I've been working almost non-stop on the Book of Fairies Artist reference...uhm...book. I'll hopefully have some samples to display on what to expect to be published soon.
Also I've updated the Merchandise page and linked it to my brand new Cafe Press store front. You want Beer Steins, Journals, stickers, shirts and what not. Go here.

Back from FaerieCon, It was much fun. I was too tired and had
work to do so I headed back to my hotel and didn't attend the Faerie ball,
but by all accounts it was fantastic.
The art was pretty amazing too and the artists in attendance no less so. This
will most likely be my last show of the year. I don't see myself attending
any other events.
Oct 7th, 2007
About to leave for Philly for FaerieCon long drive and all that. I'll be focusing the rest of the year on finishing the art I've been comissioned for the Fairy Art Reference Book that I believe will be published next year. I did some updates to the site and tried to stream line it just a little bit as well as finally getting the Merchandise page up and running selling my bookmarks and T-shirts. As always it's a work in progress. Anyway....I'm off to FaerieCon to show off and sell a bit of my work.
Wish me luck.

I have finished the second piece in the Living Ink Series called Phoenix Ink. I've uploaded it to the New Artwork page and it's avaible for sale. I'll be uploading the inprogression steps in the next few days....

Well I am back from DragonCon and I'm alive..tired and partied out, but alive. I've survived the tens of thousands of people, the drama, the roller coaster of fate ( I was asked to submit art to a book to be published in 2008 called "The Fantasy Artist's Pocket Reference: Fairies" neat huh?).
'Dragon's Ink' did fantasticlly well. Had I known it would have been so popular I would have taken more of them. I've begun work on the next in that series called 'Phoenix Ink'
Last thing, I've gotten the second Pin-up page and the second Fantasy page up and running. Enjoy!
Aug 22nd, 2007
I just finished working on the first of a new mini series called Living Ink. The first of these is called Dragon Ink and has to do with a Geisha and a living tattoo. My pin-up page isn't finished yet for purchasing the newer pin-up pieces I've been working on. So if your interested in buying Dragon Ink just click here.

The yet again.... new website is up. It harkens back to a look and feel I used back in 2003. I really liked it then and decided to go back with some modifications. Critics and suggestions welcome!
Also I am getting ready to leave for DragonCon in Atlanta. If your going come by and say hi! I'll be in the Artist Bazaar in the Artshow!
Aug 11th, 2007
I finished the Fourth and latest in the 'Iron Works' series... behold...'Nightmare In Steel'.
Aug 7th, 2007
I updated the In Progress Page. I put up my latest progress on the 'Nightmare In Steel'.

Well I have returned from San Diego Comic Con, I made a small profit and did alot of networking. I really enjoyed San Diego and the Convention but it seems like I will not be having another experience like that unless it's in another position..say I'm attending as an exhibitor as opposed to an artist. The artist alley is going thru some major changes and I'm not sure it will be for the better or worse for those wishing to just network and do sketches..but for those like myself wishing to sell art I'm kinda screwed. Next year the artist alley is being moved away from the show floor to another part of the building, we are getting half a table and we will not be allowed to set up anything behind our tables with the exception of a sole easel. Like I said...not necessary a bad thing if your not selling and displaying art. Oh well... I guess SDCC was just not ment for me. It seems to be heading in the direction of E3 and becoming solely an industry event. Which...hey if thats what the owners want and what the con-goers want then thats fine. Artists like myself and all the rest in the artist alley have other venues still open to us (....not that we get treated much better at most of them...but then we wouldn't be starving would we?)
Ok enough complaining. I have been settling down since I've come back home and going over some sketches I've done while away and I've uploaded what I'm going to start working on next in the In Progress Page. I'll call it...'Nightmare in Steel'

Sorry I haven't been updating recently. It's been busy. I decided to offer another finished commission as a limited edition print. Also I just finished a new dragon piece called "Sky Struggle". My most recent works can be seen at the New Art link. And last but not least... I'm preparing to leave for my trip to San Diego Comic Con. I have a table in the Artist Alley. Come by and say hi. And I updated the FAQ and Ordering page on my website.
June 24th, 2007
Finished some new commission artwork... will be one of them to show off. I had alot of fun working on it. I will be attending this next weeks Anime Expo in Long Beach, CA. Come by my booth and check out my art!!
June 2nd, 2007
I just landed a really good deal on mattboard and about half of my art supplied that I tend to use constantly. I'm changing the prices on artwork to reflect this. I'm still figuring out the numbers but prices should go down five to ten dollars.
June 1st, 2007
1st day of the show went decently well. I'm having fun and trying to get some sketching done while trying to do some networking at the Con.
May 30th, 2007
Leaving for A-Kon. I am not actually taking alot of art with me and so I shouldn't be bringing alot back. Come by the booth in the Komik Market/Artist Alley and say Hi.
May 8th, 2007
I'm running a Mothers Day Special with discounts on selected prints.
Say Hi to mom for me!
May 1st, 2007
Well, I've have some tough news. I'm cancelling all of my attendances, conventions and events except for four shows in particular for the rest of the year. I am taking a detour. (Artistically speaking) I won't be producing any more of my usual work in order to focus on other projects that hopefully will come to fruition soon. I'll keep my progress posted. In the mean time you can still browse the galleries and purchase prints online.
Thanks for your support. Keep an eye out for me in the near furture.
April 18th, 2007
I've started uploading sketches to the sketch book page. Theres more to come. Also, I believe all of the artwork has been repriced to better reflect the slower economy. I will be in attendance at this coming weekends Anime Boston. And on the 11th of May. Anime Central. Come by and say hi!
April 9th, 2007
I finished work on the Iron Unicorn. I also uploaded the last inprogress stages for the Iron Unicorn. It's available online as the latest piece in the Iron Works Collection.
April 7th, 2007
I updated the In_progress page. Everything should work there now. I have also reworked the Iron Unicorns In Progress pages. And added new things that bring me up to speed as far as where I am on the project. I can now move onto other things and bring the rest of the website up to par....eventually. Also I have recieved confirmation for Anime Boston, Anime Central and San Diego Comic Con... I was uncertain whether I would actually be attending these shows but it looks like I will be after all.
April 4th, 2007
I have just returned from the Emerald City Comic Con and learned that my booth at the Norman medieval fair did well, thank you everyone for coming by and saying hi and also for your patronage.
Also... I have decided...after many requests...to offer the Chambord Fairy online. Initually I wanted to have it as a gift to those who completed the set. But not every one is going to collect the entire series but still want her. So I'm going to start offering her among the rest of the series.
